What This Position is All About

The ESG Analyst will be making important contributions to SFA’s growing commitment to ESG and related reporting. This role will report into the Director, Energy and Sustainability working in close coordination with the department peers responsible for sustainability and social impact programs. The successful candidate will ideally have experience in Sustainability and an understanding on ESG reporting and disclosures, with a specific focus on TCFD. As this is an area which is developing rapidly, we are looking for someone who embraces change and can adapt to new requirements easily and with enthusiasm. The position requires excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders, strategic thinking skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This is a remote position. 

Who You Are:

  • 2 years of related work experience in the environmental or sustainable development field, with an emphasis in reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Environmental Engineering, Economics, Business, Data Analytics or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across multiple business functions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel: ability to consolidate tabs from different spreadsheets, use existing formulas and functionality, and manipulating large data sets required

You Also Have:

  • Knowledge of retail and/or apparel supply chains and experience in managing and reporting on energy, greenhouse gas (GHG), emissions, and renewable energy
  • Working independently within reporting requirements and timelines, but maintaining strong collaborative skills to work with multiple business partners across the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently, and helping prioritize goals and requirement.
  • Awareness of domestic and international regulatory landscapes in the environmental space, or interest in those areas, required

As The Analyst, ESG, You Will:

  • Gathering and validating data for regulatory reporting (California Climate Rules), voluntary frameworks (GRI, TCFD, SASB), surveys, and any additional needed data for the annual ESG report.
  • Analyze data using statistical and data visualization tools to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Be an internal subject matter expert on ESG data points for frameworks, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions as part of the GHG Protocol and target setting.
  • Continuous learning in trends in sustainability targets and goals, such as Net Zero, water-related, circularity-related goals, packaging-related goals, pollution-related goals, etc.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the Company’s sustainability information disclosure and reporting by reviewing ESG reporting trends including benchmarking and research of peers and sustainability leaders
  • Develop reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders, including senior management, sustainability teams, and external partners
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory and industry requirements related to sustainability reporting and ensuring compliance with these requirements
  • Ad hoc responsibilities as needed

The starting salary for this position is between $55,000 - $60,000 annually.  Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include market, skills, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
